Ode to the End of Summer

A bittersweet week it certainly has been,
I'm SO NOT READY for this school year to begin.
One last week to enjoy our break,
we crammed a lot in for some memories to make.
We camped with our church family at Whispering Pines,
Karson rappelled with only a few little whines.

Hey, wait, are those girls MODELS who attended camp?
Why, yes, yes they are, they even look GOOD DAMP =).
Isaac and Mason had some fun,

shooting each other and peeing on trash drums.
The kickball game was a sight to see,

lots of good laughs, with (fortunately) no injuries.
On Monday, we ventured over to Russell Sims,

lots of good swimming and lots of good grins.
Tuesday brought the Back to School Bash at Drakes,
free jumping tent, we're THERE for goodness sakes.
Wednesday, the kids went with their Dad to see G-Force,
I planned to attend, but missed it, of course.
Back to School shopping needed to be done.
Shopping + Kids never equals fun.
Speaking of clothes, Isaac's still the man.
He's worn this shirt for two weeks, being stinky is the plan.
On Thursday, we went to The Paint'n Place,

fragile pottery we managed not to break.

Our friends Jack and Reese joined in the mix,

Isaac needs his weekly "Jackson McMillen" fix.

A 550 piece puzzle we finished later that eve,

two days was all it took, can you hardly believe (it)?

Miles cracks me up in these summer shades,

lense-less glasses are the latest craze!

In fact, he's just a funny lad
when you're # 3, you don't know how to be bad =).
Your Mommy knows how to relax out in the sun.
and let kids be kids and just have fun!!!

Thanks for reading my little rhyme,

but I really am running out of time.

Three wild kiddos need to be bathed,

I'm really hoping to survive unscathed!!!

Our Version of...

DEATON STYLE
One of our favorite shows to watch as a family is ABC's Wipeout. In honor of the show, we decided to construct our own Wipeout Zone in our backyard.

LEG ONE: race across the slippery slide of silliness

LEG TWO: splash in the pool of bubblin' bubbles

LEG THREE: booty balloon bustin'

LEG FOUR: raging river raft-tids

LEG FIVE: beard blastin' bridge (covered in shaving cream)

LEG SIX: super slickety slide & stools

LEG SEVEN: lawn chairs of lazyness

LAST LEG: basketball bouncin' blaster

*Needless to say, after doing a couple of rounds of this obstacle course, we were ALL WIPED OUT!!!

A Handful of Summer Highlights (and one Lolight)

MAY HAPPENINGS

Went to prom.
Won a basketball at Beech Bend--I still have my high school finesse and sunk my second shot on one of those carnival games.
Celebrated Jerry Deaton's birthday complete with a zebra cake and candle.
Managed to survive Disney and didn't lose my mind or any of our kids in the process.
JUNE HAPPENINGS
Gained a lovely sister-in-law Laura.
Celebrated 10 years of marriage with Matt and Pamela Anderson in Gatlinburg.
Karson took some art classes at Memphis Marsha's.
Isaac finished up his 1st (and most likely last) season of baseball.

JULY HAPPENINGS
Enjoyed many times spent with my friend Melissa M. and her sweet boys Jack and Reese.
Took a trip with the wonderful Greenwood Park gals to Chaney's Dairy Barn.
Miles got stung by a wasp on his eye ~ the Lolight =(.

The twins turned FIVE YESTERDAY!
