Who Loves the Sun??

 WE DO! WE DO!  A fun Saturday afternoon baking in the sun!  Not a care in the world with two happy teens and Migos.

The Mom Life for me and Karson

I've been on my own since early Sunday morning.  I have a new appreciation for all of the single Mom's out there.  This is not an easy job.  Matt is currently in Boston with 80 students from South Warren High School.  Although he handed the reigns over to the new teacher who took his spot, he went on the trip to help with the transition.  I, on the other hand, just ate my fourth piece of Philly Cheesesteak pizza from Domino's, chased with a glass a wine, and finished with a couple of graham crackers and chocolate chip cheeseball.  My eating inhibitions are LOW right now, and I am counting the minutes until Matt returns (which is tomorrow night).  This getting up and looking presentable at 6 AM stuff is for the birds.

  Isaac went to a church retreat last weekend.  When I picked him up on Sunday, he made a pronouncement in the car that he liked PANCAKES.  As I was tucking him in bed that night, he asked me if I would make him some the next morning.  SO, Monday and Tuesday, I made him and Karson homemade pancakes, aka Bisquick Shake and Pour, and every Wednesday is Cinnamon Roll day so I've literally cooked every morning this week.
  Meanwhile Matt is chaperoning students and partly stalking Malia Obama who they saw on Harvard's campus yesterday.  All I could think of was Prison Mike's line in The Office - I stole, I robbed, I kidnapped the President's son and held him for ransom...my brain goes weird places sometimes.  Very cool that he got to see Malia.

 

I took the kids to Fazoli's last night for kids night.  For the boys, that means a whole pizza.  For me and Karson, the 99cent kids meals.  Pizza has been the theme of the week - Fazoli's, lunchables, and Domino's. Pap picked them up tonight, and they had Godfather's. It's all about survival this week.  That and the fact that I don't really enjoy cooking at all =).

I have failed to mention that for a brief moment approximately one week ago today, I became a Grandmother.  Karson is in FACS and has learned how to make eggs, bake a cake, is sewing, and also signed up to bring a robot baby home.  Her name was Pound Cake, and we had her almost 24 hours.  Karson ended up with an 89% because she got a 5/7 on feeding but had the highest marks in everything else.  I guess with a name like Pound Cake, you sort of have to watch your baby's diet?!?  Just saying.

 

 We also got to meet our sweet friends Ben and Ashley Storey's new little one last weekend, Baby Brooke.  Precious!

My little mommy also took the ACT this month.  I was curious about where she would land on the old composite.  As usual, she knocked it outta the park with a 27.  This was her first go around, and she didn't know some of the math or other questions - stuff she hadn't studied yet.  I'm hopeful that score will continue to climb over the next two years.  Smarty pants!!!

Logging off now..going to burn off some calories with my neighbor and exercise buddy! Can't wait to be reunited with my better half tomorrow =)!

Sweet #3

I'm sure I've mentioned this before but if not, you're welcome for this nugget of information about me...I did, in fact, gain close to 70 lbs. during each of my three pregnancies.  I was a giant!  And, my babies were tiny so it was ALL ME and Mocha Blasts.  I remember vividly, after almost a year after Isaac's birth, squeezing back into my regular clothes and being super pumped.  It was not long after that moment that I found out I was pregnant with our 3rd child.  Matt and I knew we would probably have more than two children, just didn't expect that it would happen that soon.  This story really has little to do with this post, but it's for posterity.


Miles is our sweet #3! Matt got to go to Donuts with Dads with him for the first time last Wednesday.  His school schedule has never allowed it, so this year was a treat.  *We're grateful to both grandpas for taking him throughout the years.

Characteristics of Youngest Children - Miles's Style

• Fun-loving - Miles is easy to love.  He's got the best smile.  In fact, his bus driver told Matt last week that he is one of the happiest children he has ever met.  He said I told him I've already changed his name to "Smiles" - what a nice compliment.  It doesn't take much to make him happy.
  
  
  
  
  
  
  
  He and his class came to SKyPAC last Tuesday for a matinee and he has been SOOO excited about the field trip all week.
  
• Outgoing - Miles is definitely friendly and enjoys playing for hours with our neighbor Laila, playing golf with his cousin Evan, doing anything with other children - he's always been the sort of kid that enjoys being with others.
  
  
  
• Manipulative - This is sort of true for every kid I would imagine.  I haven't noticed it as a major characteristic for Miles, but he can play the youngest card to get his way in some areas.
• Attention-seeker - This doesn't seem to ring very true for him because he's used to being the follower.  Maybe if there was a larger age gap in our kids, he might be more attention seeking. He's always been okay with sharing a room with his brother and wearing hand-me-downs or being the last to get to try something.  It's simply his pecking order in the house.
• Self-centered - again, like Attention-seeking, he's too close in age to the other two to have a "get my way" sort of attitude. 
• Uncomplicated - Definitely.  Miles is a happy, uncomplicated kid.  Give him a golf club, basketball or iPad and he's totally entertained.  He doesn't require a lot of one-on-one time but appreciates things.

Basketball Banquet, Birthdays, Easter, and Spring Break Roll Up

I'm OLD and getting LAZY.  I heard a funny Woody and Jim conversation on the radio last week.  They were needling their co-host Zac, and the topic was how lazy he is.  He was basically talking about how much he loathes doing laundry and that he's found this new service where he can drop off his laundry and have it washed, folded and ready to pick up.  He proceeded to say that he now needs someone to come over and put all the clean clothes up and was asking if there was a service for that.  They were ragging him about how lazy he is and telling him this laundry service is not new.  It was funny, and I can totally relate - not to the laundry necessarily - but the overall laziness and not feeling like doing anything. Could it be the age of 41?


Could it be because I drink too much wine?  For the record, this picture was for "laughing" purposes on a group text.  I would never drink an entire bottle of wine through a straw!  I'm more sophisticated than that - hah!







The Lady Spartans Basketball team celebrated their 31-4 season last week.  The coaches and team were honored in the illustrious school cafeteria with Rich Pond Market catering and the cutest little table decorations from yours truly and Pinterest =)!

 Coach Lane Embry referred to Karson as sneaking her way all over the court like a Ninja and how he expected a lot of her in the future.  She loves basketball and although the season is LOOOONNNGG, she made lots of new friends and enjoyed being part of such a special team.

AND - Karson got her official high school LETTER - YAY!

Me and Dad are March babies and celebrated our 68th and 41st at the end of the month. We did lunch at Culver's for Dad the Sunday before Easter...

 And because the kids were out of school last Friday, we decided to have lunch at O'Charley's for my birthday.

My fun co-workers surprised me that morning with desk decorations, a sweet card and some sweet gifts.  They know how to make me feel special and loved =).

I met my family for lunch that afternoon.  My sister made a delicious strawberry cake, and I was spoiled with birthday goodies and LOVE.

I had purchased tickets months ago to see Wicked at TPAC on my birthday so I took a half day off so we could leave a little early for the show.  Karson and I wanted to make a pit-stop to The Gulch and get a picture with the Kelsey Montague street mural.  I had seen an article about how she recently worked at Glasgow Middle School on a project and have always wanted to get a picture with her piece in Nashville.

 We found a parking garage near TPAC and stumbled upon a great little downtown restaurant called The Frothy Monkey for dinner.

Wicked lived up to the hype, and I'm glad we were able to finally see it - AND on my birthday - HOW COOL!

Because we are taking a week-long beach trip this summer, I decided to only take two days off for Spring Break.  With Easter falling on Sunday, we wanted to be able to go to church and eat with our families so it sort of knocked out doing a quick trip.  We decided to spend two days in Nashville.  On Monday we booked a bay at Top Golf.

 It was a tad gloomy and chilly but the bays are heated, and we enjoyed our view from the top floor.  Miles was in heaven!  Golf is his thing, and he's good y'all!  He's got the golf fever and spends a lot of time at Indian Hills with Matt.  They've played three times already this week.

 We went to Chick Fil A for lunch and made a quick stop at the Galleria mall before heading home.

On Tuesday, we headed to the Nashville Zoo with Pap, Nana, and Mae Kathryn.  We've been to the Louisville zoo a couple of times but have never been to the Nashville one.  It's nice!  I was a little concerned about the weather because it was drizzling on the way there and looked very overcast.  However, it turned out to be the PERFECT day.  The sun popped out occasionally, and it got fairly warm.

 

We made our way through most of the exhibits and were about ready to leave when a gentleman walked up and asked if we would like a handful of tickets for the "paid" attractions.  His family was leaving and weren't going to use them.  He gave me around $25 worth of tickets. Yes, yes we'll take them!  Karson and Isaac decided to ride the Soaring Eagle Zip Line and Mae K and Miles went to the jungle gym to play and then to the carousel.  After that, we called it a day and headed home.

Wednesday wasn't real spectacular.  I went back to work and the kids hung around the house.  Matt and Miles did some golfing.  When I got home, I took the older two to Zaxby's and we met Matt and Miles and almost everyone in Bowling Green (who isn't at the beach) at Southern Lanes for $15 wristband night.  For $15 you can bowl as many games as you want, get your shoe rental, and do any of the attractions in the back of the center - Rock Climb, Mini Golf, Laser Tag, Bumper Cars.  It's quite a deal and everyone was capitalizing on it =).

 Not sure what else we'll do this week, but I have a good feeling we will be at opening night for John Krasinski's new movie A Quiet Place tomorrow?!?
