We pushed the clocks back this weekend, and the weather finally feels like fall. The days are shorter now, and night seems to come quickly. I’ve swapped out all my Halloween decorations for Thanksgiving ones, because these three holiday months—Halloween, Thanksgiving, and Christmas—always feel like the most festive time of year in our home. Combine a few family birthdays into the mix, and it’s a full season of celebration around here!
He and Matt spent his birthday weekend playing in a golf tournament in Glasgow. One day was beautiful and mild, and the next was frigid—pretty typical for this time of year.
He got some new shades, cash and golf balls for his birthday!
We had another big celebration at Pap and Nana’s, and he was spoiled with not one, but two birthday cakes this year! Karson came into town for his birthday weekend—and also got to celebrate hers the next!
We enjoyed her favorite treat, a chocolate chip cheeseball, and she and Miles spent time painting pumpkins over the weekend - a green witch and King Boo!
She and Matt tried to play golf, but it was chilly. Again, this time of the year weather is unpredictable.
We wrapped up the festivities with a Sunday brunch at Drake’s.

TikTok makes Halloween makeup look so easy, and I was convinced I could totally pull it off. I found some cheap eyeliner at Walmart and after multiple attempts to turn my eyebrows into spider legs, I gave up! I found an easy spiderweb and made my best attempt the morning of Halloween. I thought it turned out ok!
This Halloween felt quiet in our neighborhood. I had enough candy to feed an army, but the trick-or-treaters didn’t show up like usual! I’m not sure what happened, especially since all the stars aligned—the holiday actually fell on a Friday night. Oh well, more sugar for us I guess - not that we need it!
While we’ve been busy celebrating our October birthdays, we also celebrated Isaac signing up for his last semester of classes at EKU. I hate to admit that we haven’t made it to Richmond all that much, and he hasn’t been home all that often either. He’s truly done the college thing on his own — every victory, challenge, high, and low! Through it all, he’s handled everything with maturity, determination, and strength, which makes me even prouder.
As we head into November with Christmas around the corner, I’m reminded how fast these days/years go by and how I cannot WAIT for him to be home for the holidays. He also been given another opportunity to work for Charles M. Moore over the break. We snapped the picture above recently when we met him in Somerset for lunch and cards at the park.
