These over achieving children of ours! May is a happening month! Lots of events, parties, awards ceremonies, testing, projects, finals, field days, recognition, yearbooks, (for Miles) golf practice/lessons, (for Karson) track meets and (for Isaac) lacrosse games. We're busy folks, and I swear if I hear someone else say, "are you okay? You look tired," I might lose my marbles. Yes, I'm tired and totally worn out. Besides the holidays, May is probably one of the most busy times of the year for parents.
Before KPREP testing begins, Plano hosts a big Celebration of Excellence event and presents awards to students for their testing achievement from the year prior. Miles received proficient recognition certificates in Social Studies, Writing and Reading. We're super proud of his hard work. This is the first year Matt was able to get away from school and attend. It was a special treat for Miles.

Isaac picked up the game of Lacrosse (through BGPR) and has done quite well. The sport is new for us, and we've gradually collected all the gear (with a few more pieces to go) over the last month or so. We're happy he's found something he enjoys and that will keep him active. He's made some great friends too. His last game is on Thursday.
He also managed to snag the following superlative in South Middles yearbook edition! It;s very fitting =)! Anyone who knows or has a relationship with Isaac is going to have a blast. That's all he's about - JOY - all the time. I came across an old hard drive that had loads of old photos and videos - mainly videos of the boys. They were so cute, energetic, and WILD. Isaac's mannerisms
then are exactly the same now. He's a fun kid to be around (unless he's your older brother, then all bets are off, and the torturing begins - hah).
Karson had awards at South earlier this month. With Matt already being at the school, I opted out. A friend of mine sent me a picture of her on-stage. Thank goodness for my fellow-mom friends out there. I got this little gem. Don't they all look super excited on stage?
I decided to do a little Snapchat photo doctoring to express how excited she looked...what do you all think? Oh the ways I like needling my children! She dropped the dagger saying - well no one was in the crowd so I wasn't sure who to smile at or for. #momfail #sorryhoney
Karson had a BIG day on Saturday running the Regional Track Meet at Greenwood High School. She prepared on Friday afternoon with an ice bath. Eeeeeek! And then a team trip to Fazoli's to fuel up on some carbs!
Despite the fact that it felt like a thousand degrees or that she'd already run in two relay events, Karson managed to pull out a WIN in the 200 Meter Dash, gaining 10 points for the girls team.
Although the girls team landed in third place, Karson will still get a chance to compete at the State Meet in Lexington on June 1.
I spent about five hours in the heat on Saturday and was totally wiped out. Isaac had a Lacrosse game at 5 PM but had pictures at 4:15. Karson's last race (200M Dash) was a 3:40 so I knew we'd be cutting it close to getting Isaac to pictures on time. I'm glad we were able to capture some quick photos with Karson post-race. We're super proud of her!
Our last little Panther graduated from Plano Elementary School on Friday. Plano has been our home the last eleven years, but it wasn't too emotional for me. I'll be honest, I'm excited that all of the kids will be under the same roof in the fall and on the same schedule. With Matt at the high school and adding another driver, Karson, to the mix, things will be a little easier.
Friday was special. Matt was able to sneak away from the high school for a quick hour to see some of the promotion event. I feel like I have the right to say this because I have both boys and a girl in my household and know how different they are. I got tickled during the ceremony with the awards - the choir consisted of girls - they won most of the big awards - they seemed a bit more engaged in the whole event - it was funny. At one point, my friend sitting next to me, zoomed her camera in on Miles and his buddy, and it looked like they could've been napping. Heck, I feel like I deserved an award for convincing Miles to wear khaki pants and a dress shirt. All kidding aside, Plano does an incredible job of recognizing the 6th graders.
