Our boys are official bunk bed buddies. I wasn't quite ready for this transition but knew it was coming SOON. Miles has been getting up at 2:00 a.m. and again at 5:30 a.m. At 2:00 a.m., he's complains about being cold. Once he's wrapped up snug like a burrito, he's fine. At 5:30, he runs out of water in his sippie. Once it's filled, he's fine and off to bed. This has been going on for the past couple of nights CONSISTENTLY. I thought to myself...huuummmm...maybe his toddler bed is getting uncomfortable? We decided to go bunk bed hunting yesterday morning while Isaac was in school. Big Lots is the BEST place for affordable, decent furniture. We scored this cool black/silver metal bunk there--it reminds me of a gym locker room. I'd love to eventually find some metal lockers to put in their room. This morning, just like clockwork, Miles got up again. Ugh, I'm out of ideas. Anyone know where I can purchase restraint straps??? j/k

From this...

Isaac is officially a 4-year old preschooler. Today was his first day of school. I am absolutely psyched that Ms. Denise has returned to EEP. She is fabulous, and I'm thankful that Isaac is in her hands. He's always been my sensitive, more clingy child. He'll lose his marbles if I go outside for one second. I can't even check the mail without notifying him. I was worried how he'd handle being left at school, but he handled it like a pro. It was nice seeing all the faces from last year and all the new faces for this year.

Finally a First Grader
I guess you could say that my wish came true. I wasn't ready for Karson to start school this week. It doesn't feel like I've even had her that long this summer. What happened to starting school at the end of August and getting out in early May? The girl has been healthy as a horse (what does that mean anyway?) all summer long but somehow managed to pick up strep throat the day before school started. She'd been complaining for a couple of days about her throat hurting, but it came to a BREAKING point on Monday. She moaned and groaned and actually slept most of the day--way out of character for her. That night she started running a fever and THREW UP (ugh). I immediately called and emailed her teacher to tell her that Karson WOULD NOT be attending school on Tuesday. We decided to go ahead and get her to the doctor the next morning since the school year started. Dr. Chris diagnosed her with strep, put her on antibiotics and advised us not to send her to school until Thursday.Friday, July 31, 2009
Ode to the End of Summer

lots of good laughs, with (fortunately) no injuries.
On Monday, we ventured over to Russell Sims,

fragile pottery we managed not to break.

Our friends Jack and Reese joined in the mix,
Isaac needs his weekly "Jackson McMillen" fix.
A 550 piece puzzle we finished later that eve,
two days was all it took, can you hardly believe (it)?
Miles cracks me up in these summer shades,
lense-less glasses are the latest craze!

Thanks for reading my little rhyme,
but I really am running out of time.
Three wild kiddos need to be bathed,
I'm really hoping to survive unscathed!!!

A Handful of Summer Highlights (and one Lolight)
