5 Steps to PAR-TEE with Miles

Sweet Miles turned 5 years old on October 17th. I decided weeks back that he definitely needed to have a golf birthday party this year. The boys LOVES it. He played almost every time we were at Beech Bend this summer, and Matt takes him to play at Otte pretty often. I really didn't anticipate the struggle it would be to find party ideas and supplies that were golf related, but it WAS. I would have preferred a birthday party at an ACTUAL golf course or driving range but none around here offer that sort of thing. SO, I had to settle on Southern Lanes Bowling Alley which has a mini-golf course in the back. Then, I had trouble finding a golf themed cake--apparently, they are non-existent in Bowling Green. If you don't have a specialty cake made, you are stuck with an edible image cake from Sam's--which is what I settled on since 4-5 year olds would be hacking into it. Wanna find golf plates, cups or napkins? Good luck with that. Unless your child hasa football, basketball, baseball or soccer party, you are PLUM out of luck, even at PARTY 1 SUPERSTORE--are you kidding! I looked for golf-themed decorations, had no luck. I had to settle for golf tees and "We're #1" and "Go Team" green tattoos. I looked for shirts with golf on them, zilch. You would think with a million children's clothing stores at our local mall that have GRAPHIC tees, you could find at least one golf shirt in the mix. Nope. I was forced to come up with my own designs and ideas for everything---why, oh why, do I put myself under this kind of pressure--weirdo!

5 STEPS TO MAKE THE PERFECT 5th PAR-TEE:

Step 1: Book Southern Lanes Bowling alley for October 16. Sunday afternoon works well for a birthday. Check!

Step 2: Go to Mighty Dollar and grab some white and green table cloths to use instead of the standard margarita tablecloths (you bowling alley people do REALIZE this is a party room for kids--see the clown?). Sprinkle tattoos and golf tees all over the table...

so Andrew, Isaac, Tucker and Trapper can use them to stab their food and cups =). Check!

Step 3: Snag a great photo of Miles golfing, get it developed and turn it into Sam's for the cake. Check!

Step 4: create a shirt with an iron-on transfer for Miles to wear at his party....

only for him to spill ketchup on Applebee's before his party (see the huge blot right under his chin). He sure enjoyed his ice cream sundae compliments of the Applebee's staff. Check!

PIZZA and ...

CAKE (bet you thought I was gonna say corn).

Happy 5th birthday baby boy!!!

Time for presents, yesssssss!

Finishing off the afternoon playing games and winning tickets in the arcade.
