Christmas With Miles

Miles had his Christmas Program at Greenwood Park EEP on Monday night and what a show it was! The came in and sang "Oh Christmas Tree" for their first number. Check it out.
After that, the kids sang "Christmas Lights". I thought I got it on the digital camera but apparently recorded it on our other camcorder. I am a DOCUMENTING machine =). I wish I had it to show. The kids had the best time waving those colored lights all over the place. Thankfully, they actually did pop them up on cue most times.
I did get "Santa Had a Christmas Tree" ho ho ho ho ho, with a jingle, jingle here and a jingle, jingle there.

All the classes give each child speaking parts for individual portions of the event. Miles came home with his part right after Thanksgiving break. We worked on it during our ride home that day, and he pretty much had it down. His part was "The color of Christmas is emerald, just take a look at the tree." I was really glad his buddy Layne and him shared the spotlight together.
There are LOTS of adults (including myself) who DO NOT enjoy getting up in front of large crowds and speaking. Not these 4 year olds...they nailed it. I was very proud of ALL OF THEM! Great job!
Ms. Teresa's bunch.

When I picked up Miles from school one afternoon (prior to the program), Ms. Teresa made the following statement, "I talked to Matt about him doing closing prayer at the program." I simply assumed she meant she had talked to Matt (aka the minister) about saying the closing prayer. When Matt got home that night, I said, "I heard you were doing prayer at the program." He said, "No, not me, it's Miles." I said "WHAT?" Now, I wish I could confidently say that we have a very active prayer life with our children, but we don't. I know, I know. I had NO idea how Miles would do with this new task. We gave him a short, simple prayer and tried to rehearse it with him but were getting no where. Teresa told me she wasn't worried about and would just let him speak from his heart. Oh my, gasp, what in the world would he say???

Well, here's the video to prove it.

I wish the recording sounded better. He sighed RIGHT before. I call it "The Sigh Heard Across the Nation." Ms. Teresa had to quietly feed him lines =). If everyone had their heads bowed and hearing aides turned down low, I think he probably pulled it off. I was proud regardless!

After the program, we got to wait and line and see SANTA. Miles loves Santa, always has. Isn't this the sweetest picture.

Merry Christmas! From, Miles
