Just Some Favorites

Most of my posts are about the kids, but I believe it's time for a post about a few of my favorite things for SPRING. Haven't you always wanted to be the lucky guest on that Oprah show? Well, I feel pretty lucky with all my favorite things such as...
(1) the floral journal and matching pen that Karson picked out for me at our church store for Mother's Day. She also picked out a lovely shade of HOT PINK Wet-n-Wild lipstick.

(2) this is my sweet little class this year at EEP. Tomorrow is our last day. I can hardly believe that this school year is already over.

(3) Isaac's turtle PopTart. Pap found PopTart on the putting green at Crosswinds. I considered keeping him but then realized he is a water turtle and would require an aquarium. Ugh, another thing to maintain and clean. We took PopTart over to the Vernon's. His new home is in their garage with another baby turtle.

(4) Asics tennis shoes. I have put some serious miles on these puppies. I love walking in the crisp 60 degree spring weather.

(5) Bath and Body--I SOOOO need to unsubscribe from their daily email. Matt got me some of their new fragrances for spring. I smell like a fresh flower garden every morning.

~on the body note, I love this moisturizer. It smells and feels great.

(6) speaking of spring fragrances, I love my flower pots. I tried out petunias this spring but will probably replace them with some begonias soon. The crazy weather has done a number on them (hopefully it won't snow tomorrow).
(7) spring afternoons when Andrew drives the kids around in his cool Corvette with the top down. They are looking smooooth in their shades.

(8) cozy plush blankets for cuddling up on the couch with a good book.

(9) my springtime plate with the kids prints on it.

(10) I saved the best for last--Karson's first yearbook. I know I mentioned it in an earlier post, but she's since, filled out the all about me page. I love it. Click on the picture to read her answers =).

Sidewinders

The Sidewinders had their first big game on Thursday night. We had to make a quick run to Hibbett's prior to the game and buy ANOTHER pair of baseball pants. I started with an extra small which was way to small (even for Isaac the kid who lives on dust and air). I returned those and purchased a different style of extra small's thinking they would work. Come game time, Isaac was putting his gear on and we couldn't even get the pants snapped. Ugh, we had to run to town and grab another pair of pants (3rd pair). I went straight for the mediums b/c the smalls still looked to small. Isaac had his pants tripled rolled, but at least they weren't cutting his circulation off =).

Isaac was lead off batter--yeah, he's that good--HAH! I caught his first at bat on my camcorder which is PRICELESS. I like recording small bits on my digital camera to post on here, but I use my camcorder for the hard copy stuff (i.e. VHS tape). Sooo, blogger fans, I don't have his priceless moment to show, but I will try my best to recap. Coach Erick got him lined up to bat. Isaac swung and hit the tee and the ball bobbled off behind him. Erick got him set up a second time and he swung and knocked it off the tee towards to first base. He starts running towards first and sees the entire ballteam running towards him and the ball. Isaac then decides to sprint and get to the ball first. He runs with all his might and tackles the ball he just hit and holds it up in the air like a precious trophy. It was AWESOME! Okay, so my story didn't do the video justice, but you are welcome to come by and check it out sometime. It's one of those moments that you wish you had on camera, and I actually got it on camera =)!!! Then, my battery died--so it's the only moment I got on camera.

My Handsome Boys

Ms. Melissa DeVries snapped some marvelous spring photos at EEP this year.

Karson is having her pictures done at Limestone Lake in the daisy field on Wednesday. She's in John and Laura's wedding in June, and I received her flower girl dress last week. Hopefully, I will have some pictures to post with that???

Plano's COOL

I must say that I am QUITE impressed with Plano Elementary. This is the school's second year, and I am continually amazed at how it operates. The PTO hosted a SPRING FLING WING DING THING on Friday (try saying that five times in a row). It's similar to the Fall Festival but mainly an outside event with inflatables, emergency/police/firefighter service vehicles, etc. There were also games inside along with a cake walk, DJ and dancing and food. The school held a silent auction with some pretty awesome packages in the library and a live auction with painted pottery pieces done by each class.

Ready for a sch pill (is that even a word?)...I planted in the library during the live auction because I was curious to see how it worked. The above pottery piece is Karson's class's and it was LAST on the block. As I listened to Steve Cherry do his micro-machine tongue twirling, I thought to myself, really, does that babble sell more items -or- make the price go higher? He sounded like Isaac on a sugar high. Anywho, I stayed for a few rounds, wandered back around the school and made my way back when Karson's piece was up. Don't get me wrong, I think these pieces are adorable, and it's a great way for the school to raise money. However, Ms. Rather's piece sold for $650, yeah that's right, $650. That means that there were two crazy parents in a bidding war over this. Things that make you go hummmmmm??? Oh well, I know that money was for a good cause.

Karson received her yearbook on Friday. I don't know what it is about yearbooks, but they make me giddy. I LOVE THEM!!! We never had them in elementary school, but I cherish all my middle and high school ones. We showed Karson the autographs page and explained to her what that was. I guess we weren't very clear. Cousin Elizabeth came over on Saturday to play and ran into the kitchen asking me for a pen. I thought myself...what could she need a pen for? I walked back to Karson's room, and she had her yearbook opened. I said, "Karson, what are you doing. Please don't write in pen in your yearbook." She said, "Mom, Elizabeth is going to sign it." I turned to Elizabeth and said, "Do you know how to write your name?" Elizabeth said, "No." Then Karson chimed in, "Mom I know how to write her name." Sooo, Elizabeth's name is handwritten by Karson in green gel pen (and the only signature) in the back of her yearbook.

Girls Schmirls

Karson has never been much of a girly girl. What I mean by that is she prefers to wear her hair down and stringy than in a cute up-do, she prefers a t-shirt and jeans to dresses, she prefers to watch SpongeBob and Scooby Doo rather than Hannah Montana and Barbie movies, if her nails are painted, she scratches it off within minutes, Isaac loves playing make-up, tea parties and Pretty, Pretty Princess more than her, and the list goes on... So, it's no surprise to me that her closest friends at school are three boys. We hosted a playdate last Saturday and invited her three buddies over. It was so cute--she wrote out invitations for each one of them (I wish I had taken a picture). They read something like this:

We got her hair whacked not to long ago. Like I said, she doesn't like it up or done (or washed, brushed, etc.). A cute summer cut was the answer.

Wacky-n-Wild Water Gun Wednesday

I honestly have no idea what I'd do without Dollar General. I mean where else can you get two cool water guns for $4 and have have hours of fun. (It was about 60 degrees the day I shot this video and the boys had been itching to play with water.)

Tough Terrain and Tee Ball Tuesday

I shot this video earlier this Spring. All I can say is WATCH OUT neighbors, Miles is mobile in the Power Wheels Jeep--no garden, flower, swing set or toe is safe.
