Karson's bedroom BEFORE
Isaac's BEFORE
Let me start off by saying this weekend was an absolute blurrrrr. Although I've wanted to give Karson a new room by August, my project got pushed into HIGH gear this weekend. I ordered her mattresses from Ford's on Thursday and had to do a double-take when they asked if I'd like them delivered today. Of course I said yes, like a big dummy. Saying yes meant that I'd need to paint her room and get everything done by the time her mattresses arrived. Don't get me wrong, I'm not the procrastinating type, but I certainly hadn't planned on such a speedy delivery and knew there was A LOT to be done in order to prepare bedrooms. SO, I started moving furniture out, removing fixtures, blah, blah, explained to Karson that Grapalicious wouldn't work on the walls with her green furniture and new Cats comforter, and she decided on a shade of yellow--Lemon Butter to be exact. Before you get to excited and want to dip your crab legs in my paint, I learned in the Psychology of Sales Behavior that yellow is supposed to make people irritable. I've also heard that it sparks curiosity and stimulates creativity, loads of classrooms and nurseries are painted in this color, but unfortunately, the irritability factoid has stuck with me and was certainly true this weekend. I started painting on Friday while the kids were with Matt's Granny. I went to Lowe's and ordered a gallon and a quart of flat Lemon Butter paint. The guy asked if I wanted it washable--DUH! I asked if it would cost extra, and he said not today. I'm thinking he's going to mix in some additive to make it more washable??? I get home, Mom comes over and the painting begins. Painting over Oh So Pink with yellow wasn't giving us the coverage we needed, and I decided that we would probably need another gallon. BUT, I needed to go get the kids, and we were at a stopping point. I went back to Lowe's later that night and got another gallon of flat paint. When I got home, I noticed that the dude from earlier in the day had given me flat ENAMEL paint and not basic flat. UGH! I called Lowe's to see if I could return the basic flat because I knew the sheens would be different. They said fine. I took the paint back the next morning and made sure the new person (apparently tons of employees man this section) selected the flat enamel paint. Little did I know he mixed the wrong color =(. I came all the way back home and was about to pour the paint when my Mom yelled, "no, no, that's not the right color!" It was certainly yellow but not Lemon Butter yellow. The title was totally different too. I thought to myself...are you kidding me? Gas is $1,000,000 a gallon and I have to drive all the way back to Lowe's AGAIN! Ugh AGAIN! I watched EVERYTHING carefully this time and checked the title before leaving. It was a two day work-out! After camping out on the heating pad, taking four Ibuprofen, I was feeling more like myself Saturday night. The kids spent most of Saturday with Colvin and Debbie. They adopted two puppies, Jack and Jill, from the Humane Society last week and got to pick them up on Saturday morning. My project is officially complete. It was worth it despite all the paint drama and irritating yellow events.
Sunday was busy as usual. After church, Karson went to a pool party at Russell Sims. I have never seen so many people at a waterpark in my life. It was crazy. We stayed for about two hours, rushed home, got cleaned up and went to an Ice Cream Social at the Brumit's house. Afterwards, Karson's cousin Elizabeth came home with us for a sleepover. Meme offered to take Isaac home with her. Good ol' Meme's! Karson has talked about having a sleepover since March when a boy-friend at church had a Scooby Doo birthday sleepover. Her little wheels started turning, and she was ready for a sleepover of her own. Being that almost all of Karson's closest friends are boys, I couldn't figure out how to pull a sleepover off??? She has a couple of girlfriends but none that had ever done that kind of thing (and most of which she isn't that close to anyways). Sometimes I think Karson believes she is MUCH older than she actually is. Anywho, Elizabeth was a willing participant last night. Thanks Elizabeth for making Karson's sleepover dreams come true. Of course, I had to take Elizabeth home at 6 a.m. this morning when it was storming and she was desperately missing her Mama. Our mattresses arrived at 11 a.m. this morning, and Karson's new room is COMPLETE.

Our sleepover on air mattresses =)!

I am sure she is thrilled with her oh, so cute room that mommy worked so hard to give her. Enjoy, Karson.
