Track Cleats to High Heels

The countdown has begun…May 22…the light at the end of the high school tunnel…graduation. What a weird school year!  Things seems a little more normal with the vaccine roll-out. I wish I knew the total count of in-person learning days that our kids were in school this year.  I’m thinking…a month (or two) possibly.  Despite the loads of things missed her senior year, Karson has been fortunate to participate in the sports she enjoys, even if the seasons are modified.  She was able to attend her first school prom at South (pictures below).  And, if everything goes right, she’ll get to have a legitimate graduation.  Prom and graduation are monumental.  These seniors have been robbed of so much this year.  It seems fitting that they should get two special events.

The day of prom = the Great Gator Invitational at Greenwood. Karson brought the smoke in four events and managed to snag the Female Track Athlete of the Meet award.  Her prom date Sebastian also competed in field events for GHS.  I had to get a picture of them!

Since Karson wasn't sure when she'd be home from the meet, it was tough to figure out how to get her hair and make-up done.  We are not experts in this field but knew some fine people who were...The dream team of Kim and Madelyn Yonts.  The Yonts have been in our lives for a while and moved to Russellville a few years ago.  We were so excited to see them again, and they turned our girl into a movie star!

Pictures and dinner at Olde Stone.

She made it home around 12:45AM...it was a long day/night for our girl.  Glad she had fun and got to be a Princess for the night.

After Karson's track meet on Saturday, I was able to rush over to South and catch the last few minutes of Isaac's JV match-up against a tough Frederick Douglas team.  Baby Tank was on fire, scoring three times! He managed to school the game tying goal, with only eight seconds left, which sent the team into overtime.

He also participated in a braveheart (essentially a one-on-one version of lacrosse)...and the video below is my absolute FAVORITE. He's like a predator stalking his prey...unfortunately, we lost by one but still a cool victory for our son.

SENIOR (super soaker) Saturday happened at yesterday at the SKY Conference meet at South Warren.  Karson was scheduled for the 100M dash and two relays which meant she'd be able to leave a little earlier than usual (since she's normally in the 200M dash).   We love our sprinter and are thankful they were able to recognize her and the other senior track mates.
