Breaking News....this just in.....

My main squeeze and I are still trying to figure out this thing called life and what we'd like to be when we grow up - hah!  For a large chunk of our dating life and many years into our married life, we were in full time ministry.  While at WKU, Matt and I drove to a small country church every single Sunday where he preached and worked with the youth at South Edmonton.  We were also heavily involved in the campus ministry at WKU through the Hilltopper's For Christ ministry at Greenwood Park.  Matt had grown up in church at Lehman Avenue which planted the Alvaton Church, and I was in cradle roll-college with Greenwood Park.  After getting hitched, we moved south about 9+ hours from home to work with a church in Lake Park Georgia before returning to Bowling Green after about a year.  We started working with the University church before forming our own church which started at Bowling Green High School and eventually moved into the old 12th Street Church building called Community.  Through all of those years and during that time, Matt was a natural in front of people and great at his work.  He'd gotten his undergraduate degree in Religious Studies and Speech Communication.  After moving back home, he decided to start working on his Master's in Divinity from Lipscomb University.  After completing seminary, which was a huge accomplishment, he took a little breather from school.  Of course during all of that, life happens too.  We had three kids fairly close together, and staying permanently in Bowling Green simply made the most sense to us.  All of our family is here. While Matt felt called to be a minister, his heart held a lot of passion for education.  He made the decision to go back to school and get his high school teaching certification in Social Studies. In May of 2011, he finished up his student teaching at South Warren High School and passed the PRAXIS In 2014, he completed his Master's degree in Education - Teacher Leadership.

May 2014 ~ graduate again!

The rest is history.  He's been a world history teacher, a bowling coach, a US history teacher, a golf coach, an AP US history teacher, a dean of students, an assistant principal and lead principal at South Warren Middle School.  Whew!  That's a lot in only twelve years in education.

His newest adventure was announced yesterday afternoon.  After a decade at South Warren High School, the current principal Ms. Jenny Hester, is stepping down.  After lots of contemplation, Matt decided to put his name in the hat as an applicant.  His heart, in many ways, has always been at the high school.  Fortunately, he was selected as the head principal.  His two years at the middle school helped prepare him for this role, and I truly feel like he is the perfect fit for it.

He's received many phone calls, texts, messages of support that it has truly been overwhelming.  Warren County is a wonderful community, and he's looking forward to this next chapter.

While we wish our little Cardinal could have joined us, Karson is busy finishing up her first semester of nursing school.

One of her favorite nursing professors ends all of his emails with this phrase!  I think it's appropriate for ending this blog as well!   Karson loves it and loves him.  I think a few of them might get tattoos of one of the phrases (which is extra meaningful to them) when they graduate - three semesters to go!

ONWARD!!!!
