What's a Snow Day???

Growing up in the city school system, there was nothing more eminent than a snow day. It was/is the pinnacle (and plight) of every youngster. I would get up, peak out the window at the covered, snowy street streets, and think to myself..."YEEESSSSS, I can sleep late this morning." I was WRONG 90% of the time. Every school within a 100 mile radius would be out except BGISD. It felt like an eternity watching that Polar Report ticker run through the alphabet of schools: Glasgow, Logan, Metcalfe, Simpson, Todd, Warren, Barren,.........CUMBERLAND, AHHHH--BG didn't make the cut. What is it about these sensational snow days??? If you attended city schools, you certainly know the excitement they bring! Fortunately Karson will be attending county schools. I believe Dale Brown understands a child's need for a SNOW DAY. Yipppeee for the snow!

Another coveted perk about attending county schools is the choice of mascots for all the high schools. You have the Raiders, the Dragons, and the Gators. I, of course, was a Purple and feel that Purple Pride that will always run through my veins. However, trying to explain a colored mascot to an opposing team is an impossible task. It also didn't help attending Western which also is represented by a Big Red.

  1. Glad y'all had fun, too! ARGH--We're destined for snow days that are few and far between, here in Metro. EVERYONE was out today except us! I was tempted to go pick kids up early (11:30 counts as a full day--wink, wink), but I resisted the urge to deprive my children of their education (ha).

  2. Chase wanted to call Karson and Tucker to tell them that it snowed. It took a while to get him to believe me that they already knew and that they were probably already outside playing in it by the time we got up and ready. Glad ya'll had fun playing in it too!

  3. I'm so jealous of everyones snow play pictures today. All we got out of it was a trip to the doctor for both girls. I started to take a picture of my sick kiddo laying in the recliner asleep, but didn't think that would be nearly as entertaining. I love your blog...it's one of my favorites to read...you're too hilarious. And I agree...the Purple and Big Red are pretty odd mascots...but I guess I can't say too much because I was a "green wave"! :-)

  4. So glad you all finally got a snow day. I was getting sick of hearing you all complain about not having any! (Just kidding of course.)

  5. Even if we didn't have a lot of snow, I am glad us mommys made the most of it. Love your collages.

  6. SNOW!!! My kids are going to think that snow is the foam stuff they use to make it snow at Disney! I have such great memories of snow days as a kid... a luxury my kids will never know (they'll get hurricane days, but believe me, those aren't nearly as fun or nostalgic!). Make a snow angel for the Rogers family!
