Hell hath no fury like a Miles scorned. I've forgotten how fun, yet tempermental a 15 month old can be. Isaac never entered the "terrible 2's", but Karson hit it hard around 18 months. Mighty Miles is bringing it back to our world. He's become a ball of fury clearing out cabinets, getting into trash, ripping things up all with attitude. Last night the kids were working on cards for friends in the dining room. Karson was decorating one for her friend Kennedy who has been sick, and Isaac was making one for his friend Jackson who had a birthday this week. Miles wanted in on the action and made that known. He was trying to pull down markers and grab at their cards and stickers. Strike 1, "no, no Miles" wouldn't work. He was ANGRY. I thought to myself...he wants to color, I'll go and get him some crayons. Strike 2, he looked at me like I was crazy and screamed at the top of his lungs while heading back to the table. A diversion, that's what I needed. Matt took him in the den and tried to play with him. Strike 3, he arched his back and let out a wail that was probably heard throughout Plano (Melissa M., Tonya, Melissa D., Larie--did you all hear it???). Matt put him down, and he sprinted back into the dining room, found an empty chair, climbed up on the table and grabbed markers. It was like a clip from Toddlerzilla. He was roaring and beating his chest. All the kids were going mad at this point, and we were about to pull our hair out. We grabbed Miles up and trapped him in his Discovery Farm which is the only thing that will contain him these days. And, put on Baby Einstein...that Julie Clarke is my best friend. Once the calm had settled and the kids finished their cards and went about their ways, we released the beast. He made a bee-line back to the dining room, climbed in the chair and played with the markers and had the best time. Oh my, it's hard to believe that he's already taking on the terrible 2's. I'm afraid he's going to have the most attitude of all three of our children, and rightly so =).

Hilarious... I'm laughing out loud! Julie Clarke is second in our house only to whoever invented baby Benadryl (just kidding DCF!).
ReplyDeleteI hate to tell people having their 3rd (close your ears if you're not there yet)...my 3rd was the BEST baby ever. Until he hit 15 months or so. He's still a precious child, but OH MY is right! He's finally (at 3 yrs, 2 mos) beginning to emerge from the terrible twos. I've never known a child who enjoyed destroying things so much! Not to be ugly, just for fun. Here's to hoping this last little boy is not such a handful!!! OH MY.
ReplyDeleteHmmm....sounds like a little 16 month old girl I know! :-) She wants to do whatever sissy is doing and won't take no for an answer either. She is definitely independent and wants things her way and in her time. Hmmm...now that I just typed that, it also reminds me of someone else I know all too well! :-) I guess the apple doesn't fall too far from the tree.
ReplyDeleteI know exactly what you mean, girl.
