Miles is our most "coachable" child and not a typical 3rd in the sense that he isn't attention seeking, self-centered or spoiled. He is fun-loving, out going and charming - basically the cutest golfer ever. He can also be a bit stubborn when convincing him to try to new things (even things he loves). Today was monumental. He played in his first-ever golf tournament. Matt has been working with him since last summer and felt like it was time to let him compete. At first he was apprehensive and very contrary about the whole idea, but over time, he convinced himself it would be okay and consented to playing.
Matt signed him up for four tournaments through the Go Junior Golf Series. He and Miles did some shopping yesterday before his big debut on the course. He got some new golf shirts and shorts, probably the first NEW clothes he's ever gotten (3rd's are prone to hand me downs). He's determined to wear the bright neon green Nike shoes - says they're his golf shoes.

Signing off on the score cards for each other - a gentleman's sport =). Miles didn't come out on top today but played well and more importantly had FUN. The director of the program, Mark Price, pulled Miles aside afterwards and told him that many 9 year olds in their first tournament score all 8's across the scorecard. Yay! That's a confidence booster right there! Next tournament in Central City at the end of the month!
